Joel Wilhite is a Senior Systems Design Engineer for Harmonic. Mr. Wilhite started his career at DiviCom when the first commercial MPEG-2 encoders were being launched and has focused primarily on broadcast, contribution, distribution and now streaming television. Mr. Wilhite has held several positions within Harmonic during the last two decades and has contributed his system knowledge during the draft phase of several ATSC specifications and more recently for ATSC 3.0 standards, where he has intensified his role to work more closely with other manufacturers to help deliver these new technologies. He has presented at many industry conferences and authored and co-authored a number of technical articles for publication. Mr. Wilhite studied Electronics Engineering Technology at DeVry University Phoenix and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Missouri. Mr. Wilhite lives in Silicon Valley, has one son and recently married his second wife and holds an amateur radio extra class license, KD6W.
